Miami Beach excluded from "best beaches" list

Miami boasts a lot of "bests," but turns out beaches aren't one of them — at least according to Tripadvisor.

The largest global travel guidance site's annual Travelers Choice Awards left Miami off its Best of the Best Beaches list.
Miami was also excluded from the list in 2023.

Why it matters: The list — built off global reviews and ratings on the platform between Oct. 1, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2023 — highlights travelers' experience while visiting the beaches, with factors like cleanliness and "watersport-friendly seas" among the considerations.

Driving the news: Two other Florida beaches were included in the country's top 10 beaches: Siesta Beach on Siesta Key, near Sarasota, came in at No. 2, while Hollywood Beach in Broward County came in at No. 4.

Both beaches were lauded for good sunbathing opportunities and being family friendly.
The ratings also highlighted Hollywood Beach's boardwalk.

Zoom out: Siesta Beach earned a spot on the site's Top 10 Beaches in the World for 2024, coming in at No. 9.

Praia da Falésia in Portugal was rated the best beach in the world.
Ka'anapali Beach in Lahaina, Hawaii, was rated the best beach in the U.S., with high marks for wildlife sightings and water sports.

Zoom in: Six other Florida beaches made the list's top 25 U.S. beaches, including Panama City Beach, St. Augustine Beach and Henderson Beach in Destin.
