I tried Roll & Dough's viral cinnamon rolls

After bakery Roll & Dough became the talk of the town last week, I wanted to see what these cinnamon rolls were all about.
Catch up quick: The popular bakery, founded by Florida International University student Julie Pierre, went viral last week over an alleged cinnamon roll theft.
- In a viral, now-deleted TikTok, Pierre said an Uber driver stole 350 cinnamon rolls he was supposed to deliver to the Yellow Green Farmers Market.
- She said the driver ignored her messages for hours and later filed a police report over the supposed theft.
- But on Thursday, she learned that the driver was detained by Border Patrol agents as he was on his way to deliver the rolls that morning.
- Roll & Dough apologized and set the record straight on Instagram: "Based on what we now know, Ivan did not intentionally steal our cinnamon rolls."
As this all transpired, the bakery opened preorders for its highly sought-after Japanese-milk-bun-inspired cinnamon rolls and I was lucky enough to get the original and cookie butter flavors.
- I had been waiting for cooler weather before getting in line at the farmers market.
Dig in: Just as the name suggests, Roll & Dough's rolls are extra doughy. I thought they were perfectly cooked: gooey and moist but not underdone.
- The original had the perfect amount of cinnamon and the whipped vanilla bean buttercream was delicious.
- The cookie butter roll tasted similarly to the original but had an amazing cookie butter aftertaste that kept me wanting another bite. I followed each bite with a piece of the Biscoff cookie on top for an extra crunch.
The verdict: They're definitely worth waiting in line for— even in the heat.
