Review: La Sosta's Italian sandwiches are the real deal

Dig in: Martin and Naomi started with some coffee and we both approved. Sommer opted for what Martin described as an "aristocratic tea party" (we wish we had the pics to prove it).

What we ordered: Martin got the Mortadella and Pesto on ciabatta, while Sommer and Naomi went halfsies on the Il Classico Toscano (prosciutto and burrata) and Il Vegetariano Freddo (marinated veggies) on focaccia.

• No sandwich is complete without a side of chips, so we got the paprika chips.

😍 Sommer's review: The II Vegetariano was a perfectly layered sando with grilled eggplant, artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes brought together with a punchy roasted pepper crema.

• The handful of arugula added a lovely crunch.

😋 Naomi's review: I studied abroad in Florence (although it got cut short due to the pandemic), so I've had my fair share of Italian sandwiches and La Sosta's are right up there.

• I could tell they are using high-quality ingredients with each bite. The sandwiches taste very fresh, airy and light. The focaccia has a perfect crust and the veggies were well-marinated and packed with flavor.

• You also can't go wrong with their classic prosciutto sando.
• I'm definitely trying the iced Italian latte, which basically looks like tiramisu in beverage form.

😁 Martin's review: I enjoyed the mortadella and pesto. It was fresh, flavorful and packed with greens (but maybe too much for my liking). After trying the other sandos, I think the veggie was my favorite.
