Broward County voters went to the polls Tuesday to elect new local leaders and select their party's nominees for the November election.
State of play: Broward Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott called Tuesday's turnout "disappointing."
- Per political strategist Michael Worley, Broward was on pace to have its lowest primary turnout in 10 years.
Here are where some Broward's biggest races stand, according to preliminary results from Tuesday night.
Broward County Commission
Hollywood City Commissioner Caryl Shuham was on track to secure the District 6 seat.
Broward School Board
District 1 board member Maura Bulman and at-large member (seat 8) Allen Zeman were on track to win their races.
- Nicole Morst and Cynthia Dominique were on track to win the District 4 and 7 races, respectively.
- It appeared Adam Cervera and Roberto Fernandez III are headed to a November runoff in the District 6 race.
Governor
Democrat David Jolly will face Republican Byron Donalds in the general election after receiving their parties' nominations, per the Associated Press.
U.S. House District 20
U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz won the Democratic primary as the only white candidate running in the historically Black district, per the AP.
- She'll face Republican Brent Andersen in November, according to AP.
U.S. House District 24
Miami-Dade Commissioner Oliver G. Gilbert III was on track to win the highly contested race to succeed U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson.
- Shevrin Jones conceded to Gilbert, who will face Republican Te Brown in the general election.
U.S. House District 25
U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz and Republican Scott Singer won the Republican and Democratic nominations, respectively, in the newly formed district that runs along the state’s east coast, per the AP.
U.S. Senate
Democratic socialist state lawmaker Angie Nixon and Republican Sen. Ashley Moody both won their primary races, per the AP.
