Take a look inside Charlotte’s best closet makeovers of the year

Produced in partnership with California Closets.

Having functional, beautiful spaces in your home can make a world of difference, and the design team at California Closets specializes in bringing this balance to life.

Whether you need help with your primary closet, pantry, home office or garage, California Closets will work with you to create your dream home storage system.

We rounded up five of California Closets’ most impressive projects from this year and explored the magic behind the scenes.

(1) This Lake Norman couple got his-and-hers closet makeovers to complement a full-home redesign.

The designers channeled the breezy vibes of lakeside living with these primary closets.

The designer:Morgan Haynie (collaborating with Chad Pruett Designs).
The details:
The main closet finish, Linen, gives the cabinets a soft touch and feel while adding class to the space alongside the soft, matte nickel hardware.
The strategy: “When they first purchased the home, it was very dark, with outdated, heavy cabinets. With the renovation, they wanted to move in the opposite direction.”

(2) A dream closet was born when California Closets got involved with this home addition.

In case you need new material for your Pinterest board, this walk-in closet and dressing room makeover we covered back in May is ready to pin.

The designer: Renee Haywood.
The details:
Sorrento finishes layered with gold aluminum doors (from Element Designs) and bronze glass inserts. Vegan leather inserts on the doors for the island and metallic slab drawer fronts on the dresser and dressing table.
The strategy: The client wanted “a functional, beautiful space that would match the rest of the home’s aesthetic and make it easy to stay organized.”

(3) This closet renovation inspired a home organization overhaul.

When a closet makeover leads to two more projects (another closet and the pantry!), you know you’re with the right team.

The designer: Erin Kelly.
The details:
Pull-out drawers and item-specific shelving in the closets alongside new paint colors and light fixtures across projects.
The strategy: “The clients are super organized people, and it was obvious from the start that they were ready to upgrade to custom closet and pantry systems to add a higher level of organization, visual enjoyment and value to their beautiful home.”

(4) A professional organizer had a vision for keeping her home tidy.

What happens when a life coach with her own organizing business wants to revamp her home? A stunning closet and pantry makeover.

The designer: Renee Haywood.
The details:
“Classic White” with “Matte Nickel” finishes to give the space a clean, crisp background.
The strategy: “I had always dreamed about having an amazing closet with a little chandelier (like you see in the magazines) where I could organize all my sparkly shoes and dresses like they were on display in a retail setting.

  • For my pantry, I wanted to get all of my small kitchen appliances off the counters and hidden away.”

(5) Teamwork made the dream work in this collab between California Closets and a local interior designer.

Who knew a laundry room could be beautiful? From a functional and classic laundry room to multiple closets, this new-build home got the full California Closets treatment.

The designer:Morgan Haynie (collaborating with Linda Martinez of Styled Now Interiors).
The details:
Glass drawer fronts in the primary closet, adjustable shelving and clothing rods.
The strategy: “The primary closets needed plenty of drawers, hanging storage, open concept designs, and specialized areas for the washer, dryer, hampers and oversized accessories like hats and luggage.”
