NCAIS Hiring Fair connects teachers with independent schools

A message from: NCAIS

Educators everywhere are facing increasing challenges and road blocks — and North Carolina is no exception. Teacher turnover and attrition continue to rise, impacting schools and their students.
The solution: Helping teachers find opportunities that are a good fit and meet their needs is key. The North Carolina Association of Independent Schools (NCAIS) is working to connect talented and passionate educators with opportunities to make an impact at our state's independent schools.
Some background: NCAIS is an association of 93 independent schools across the state that provides support, resources, professional development and more to its schools, students and educators.
Independent schools are private schools with a few distinct characteristics.
- All private schools are tuition-driven, but independent schools are mission-focused 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.
- Independent schools are accredited institutions and are governed by a Board of Trustees who hold them to high educational and operational standards.
- Key numbers: Mecklenburg County is home to 96 independent schools, including Charlotte Country Day School.
Above all, independent schools value the educational growth and enrichment of their students — and educators' roles in creating engaging, dynamic and transformative learning experiences.
What they're saying: "One of the things that I appreciate about independent schools is that they work hard to remove the barriers that get in the way of teachers being able to do what it is that they are passionate about, which is teaching children," says Executive Director of NCAIS Stephanie Keaney.
