We asked Dr. Trefz to tell us more about her specialty and her experience with CEENTA.
What brought you to Charlotte?
Originally a Georgia native, Dr. Trefz moved to Charlotte two years ago to join the team at CEENTA. She currently practices in the Monroe office.
Why did you choose this specialty?
"I love getting to take care of patients of all ages — from infants to older adults."
- Dr. Trefz is particularly passionate about addressing patient needs through ear tube, thyroid, tonsil and sinus surgeries.
What conditions do you typically treat?
"I treat a wide range of conditions and infections that affect the ear, nose and throat."
- What you need to know: Otolaryngologists like Dr. Trefz treat a wide variety of ENT issues, spanning from allergies to acid reflux to hypothyroidism to ear infections.
With kids back in school — can you tell us more about pediatric ear infections?
"Ear infections in children are very common. The first line of treatment typically involves antibiotics. If medications are not sufficient and infections persist or recur, we can consider placing ear tubes."
- The impact: Ear tubes can reduce the risk of ear infections, restore hearing loss caused by fluid in the ear, and improve speech, balance, behavior and sleep problems caused by chronic ear infections.
- Worth a mention: CEENTA has been a trailblazer in treating ear infections for over a hundred years and contributed pivotal research that led to the creation of modern ear tubes.
What do you like to do in your free time?
"I love to travel and spend time with my family and dogs!"
The takeaway: CEENTA has high standards for their doctors, ensuring Carolinians get the best care.
