The Agenda team went out for a lake day recently thanks to our friends at Kings Point, and it. was. awesome.
What we really needed was time to hang out, relax and not check our phones (very tough for people who work on the internet all day). We accomplished that goal thanks to the ease of renting a boat through Kings Point, and the entire process was honestly much simpler than we thought it would be.
(1) How much will it cost?

Boat rentals are available by the half day (morning or afternoon) or full day, and the day of the week and type of boat affects the price. The 10-person pontoon we took was super nice and costs $275 for a full day weekday rental and $350 for a full weekend day right now. (Split up by 10 people it’s really not bad for a full day on the lake.)
Take a look at all the options here to see dates and pricing, which changes seasonally.

(2) How do I get set up?

I thought the setup for booking a boat would be complicated, but the check-in process was really easy. We filled out a couple forms at the main office/store, and one of the Morningstar team members showed us directly to our boat.
He walked us through safety features, helped us plan our route on the map, and had the boat tied so we wouldn’t have to deal with real boat parking (when we left AND when we came back).

Abby on our team was the driver for the day and watched a short safety video that they sent us before boat day so it wouldn’t eat up our rental time.
The Morningstar team can keep this process quick, but if you’re new to boating and need to get more comfortable with driving features and navigating the lake, the crew is happy to spend as much time with you as you need.
(3) What’s the music situation?

You can connect your phone to the boat speakers to jam out all day but word of warning: If you have a new iPhone don’t forget your headphone jack adapter!!!
(4) Where should I head once I’m on the water?

Being there for a day with our rental gave us a peek into what it’s like to have a boat and enjoy the social scene of #LKN. Head to hot spots like The Sandbar or Cocktail Cove near Trump National Golf Club. Families looking for a quieter day can choose any of the lake’s 40 islands and anchor 5 or 6 feet off the island to enjoy the sandy beaches.
If you’re going to do any tubing, skiing or wakeboarding, make sure to stay in one of the larger coves – stay out of the main channel at high congestion areas.
Safety reminder: Always have the engine off for at least 10 seconds before getting in the water, and no diving head first!
(5) Where should I eat?
If you’re boating around for the day, take advantage of a restaurant that has boat access, like Eddie’s (though be sure to check low-bridge clearance!).
Pro tip: I also learned that if you have your boat at Kings Point, you have access to some of the amenities at sister property Peninsula Yacht Club, like eating at the club’s expansive terrace or in the dining room.
Get on the lake and enjoy the cooler temps coming our way.
