Expanding + rebranding: A new chapter for Daniel Stowe Conservancy

A message from: Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

Belmont's popular botanical garden has a fresh new name — and a major expansion just in time for summer.
Here's the deal: Formerly known as Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, Daniel Stowe Conservancy now encompasses 380 acres of conserved land, offering nature experiences well beyond its 90-acre garden.
Why it's important: Stowe has rebranded from a great spot to admire flowers with Grandma to an outdoor destination for all ages to hike, explore and get in touch with nature.
- Even better: The new trails, dog park, store and garden center are free to the public.
Here's what's new and how to make the most of your next visit.
🥾 Take to the trails
Stowe's expansion encompasses over eight miles of trails, including the picturesque Duke Kimbrell Trail along Lake Wylie.
Enjoy screen-free family fun while you explore the new Adventure Trail — a shaded forest trail for kiddos and the young at heart.
- You'll find outdoor playscapes along the way like the Creekside Room with a rocky, trickling creek that puts other splash pads to shame.
- Looking ahead: Keep an eye out for the new three-story Prairie Castle Playground opening later this summer.
☕️ The Trailhead Store
Fuel up for your outdoor adventures at the Trailhead Store where you can grab a latte, sandwich, snack or delectable dessert.
- Plus, every Saturday from 2-4pm, unwind with wine and outdoor live music at Pickin' on the Porch.
🪴 The Farmhouse Garden Center
Shop for all your home garden needs at the Farmhouse Garden Center, a newly renovated retail space offering plants, seeds, pots, tools, gifts and more.
- The Farmhouse will also offer a variety of public classes to help you harness and hone your green thumb.
🌷 The Gardens at Stowe
The botanical gardens aren't going anywhere. You can still stroll among the curated flowers, plants and fountains at the Gardens at Stowe.
- The Gardens' Williamson Conservatory is a must-see — it's the Carolinas' only 8,000-square-foot, year-round tropical oasis.
- The Gardens, Williamson Conservatory and Big Leaf Café + Shop are open Wednesday-Sunday from 10am-5pm and require admission or membership.
📍 Stowe is located at 6500 South New Hope Road in Belmont, NC, about 21 miles outside of Charlotte.
