Charlotte arts festival returns with global flair

A message from: Blumenthal Arts

It's almost September, and you know what that means — the Charlotte International Arts Festival (CIAF) is back, and this year it's bigger than ever.
The story: From Sept. 1–30, Charlotte will transform into a canvas of global creativity with more than 200 events featuring international performances, local artistry and immersive experiences — with many of them free.
Why it's important: In fast-growing cities like Charlotte, cultural connection matters now more than ever.
- CIAF bridges neighborhoods and nations to offer shared moments that spark curiosity and reflect the rich diversity that defines the Queen City.
The strategy: CIAF, produced by Blumenthal Arts, celebrates both local talent and international artists during one month-long "festival of festivals."
- From dance, theater and live music to food, art installations and cultural markets, this year's lineup is designed for every age, interest and budget.
What Blumenthal Arts is saying: This festival has cultural connection at its core.
- "CIAF brings people together to create new bonds and appreciation for the cultures and traditions found here," Blumenthal Arts President and CEO Tom Gabbard said. "The result is a joyous reflection of Charlotte's global spirit and creative energy."
What you need to know: The festival runs for the whole month of September — meaning there's plenty for you to do.
- This year, several returning events hit a new location in the Iron District, home of Blumenthal Arts' creative hub, Blume Studios.
