This $9 wine tasting in north Charlotte feels like one of those if-you-know-you-know deals.
Why it matters: The Wine Vault has been pouring in University City for more than 30 years, but you could visit the bar and never realize there's a weekly wine tasting happening in the back.
What to expect: Every Wednesday, a sommelier walks you through six wines, with the lineup changing from week to week.
- The tastings are casual and educational — and occasionally a winemaker will lead the tasting themselves.
If you go: Tastings happen every Wednesday from 7-8pm at 9009 J M Keynes Dr.
- The Elizabeth location (401 Hawthorne Lane), though not as consistently, also has tastings.
Zoom out: Wine isn’t the only draw. The Wine Vault regularly hosts live music on weekends.
- Expect local bands typically on Friday and Saturday evenings. The Elizabeth location also has live Jazz on the second Sunday of each month.
My thought bubble: If you love learning about wine then this is absolutely worth the money. Don't let "tasting" fool you — these aren't stingy little pours. I ordered a flight afterward that I couldn't finish and quickly realized the $9 tasting had already done plenty of the work.
