The Charlotte 49ers are rolling out cheaper concessions for football season.
Why it matters: It's the 49ers' first value menu, giving fans five food and drink options for $2.99 each.
Dig in: The menu includes:
🥨 Pretzel bites
🌭 Hot dogs
🍿 Small popcorn
🥤 Fountain soda
🌮 BBQ taco
Other new menu items include beef brisket hot dogs ($8), grilled chicken sandwiches with fries ($11.50), sausages ($12), calzones ($9) and a tear-and-share pizza ring ($8).
What we're watching: In addition to menu changes, the 49ers are almost a year into a $70 million football stadium expansion that will add around 3,000 seats. Construction, pictured above, focuses on the west side of the stadium.
The project also includes a new tower with premium seating.
Construction is on schedule and is expected to be completed ahead of the 2027 football season, a program spokesperson tells Axios.
The big picture: An expanded stadium will allow for more opportunities to host events outside of sports. Additional events are limited at present due to construction, but a screening of "Zootopia 2" is planned for this Saturday, Aug. 15 at 7:30pm. It's free to attend.
What's next: The 49ers open the season against the Citadel on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 3:30pm. Tickets start at $20.24.
