The Stellar Gospel Music Awards are in Charlotte this week.
Why it matters: It's the first time Charlotte will host the Stellar Awards, which are considered the Grammys for gospel music. The city will be in the spotlight for not only those attending the event, but also more than 3.6 million television viewers.
What to expect: The main event, the 41st annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards, will take place at Spectrum Center at 4:30pm. Kirk Franklin, a gospel icon and 20-time Grammy Award-winner, will host the Stellar Awards.
There will be live performances in addition to recognizing gospel artists.
