Wegmans is on track to open in Ballantyne on Oct. 14, bringing one of the country's most fanatical grocery followings to south Charlotte.
Why it matters: Well, Wegmans fans will tell you, it's the greatest grocery store — or place on Earth.
A Northwood executive told the Ledger the excitement could rival a Grateful Dead concert, with people expected to line up days in advance.
The latest: Construction workers are putting the finishing touches on the 110,000-square-foot building before turning the building over to the store team in early September, a Wegmans spokesperson tells Axios.
The team will spend a few weeks testing equipment and recipes, stocking shelves, and getting the store ready for customers.
Hiring is ongoing.
What's next: Doors open Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 9am.
It's probable "Wegmaniacs" will set up tents to camp out well before then.
