Charlotte Mecklenburg Library names new CEO

The latest: Myers' appointment began Monday after a nationwide search. She was the CML Board of Trustees' unanimous choice, according to a statement from board chair Amy Hawn Nelson.

What they're saying: "We need someone who has the experience and expertise to successfully lead the organization through ever-changing economic, social and political landscapes while still meeting the needs of our growing community," Nelson said. "Angie is that person."

Zoom in: Myers is responsible for CML's 21 locations, nearly 500 employees and more than 800,000 items in CML's collection. She's also tasked with overseeing the library's budget.

Zoom out: Myers, a certified public accountant, joined CML as its finance director in 2013. She was named chief finance and administration officer in 2018, and has continued in that role since being named interim CEO.

• Her past career stops include serving as a division director in Mecklenburg County's financial services department, Wells Fargo, Lowe's, Marriott International and KPMG.
• She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from James Madison University and a Master of Business Administration from Queens University of Charlotte.
