Dear Charlotte, a garden-inspired restaurant, bar and event venue, will open this fall in Steele Creek at a forthcoming Hilton Garden Inn.
Why it matters: Steele Creek, a growing area in southwest Charlotte, lacks the same amenities as popular neighborhoods closer to the city's urban core. Dear Charlotte will provide a gathering space for residents and visitors.
Context: The project is from local hoteliers and cousins Parimal Thakor and Krishna Deva, who are co-CEOs of Maya Hotels. Dear Charlotte will be a stand-alone destination on the top floor of the new Hilton Garden Inn Steele Creek at 4936 Trojan Dr. Suite 600.
- Maya Hotels will own and operate the six-story, 124-room hotel, which is near Charlotte Premium Outlets and expected to open in early September before Dear Charlotte's opening. The hotel will include downstairs meeting rooms.
- This will be Maya Hotels' first independent food-and-beverage space.
What to expect: Dear Charlotte will serve botanical cocktails, artisan pizzas and shared plates. The space will include a state-of-the-art sound system.
- Dear Charlotte will include three areas with full- and partial-rental options. Full-venue standing capacity will be 250 people. Main dining room and bar rentals can hold up to 100 people. The 1,744-square-foot patio can also fit 100 people. The 344-square-foot greenhouse is meant for groups of eight to 50 people.
Flashback: The hotel was planned without Dear Charlotte. The pandemic disrupted construction, and Maya Hotels executives decided to remove 11 planned hotel rooms on the sixth floor and add the full-service cocktail bar and restaurant.
What they're saying: "Steele Creek has continued to grow, and we saw an opportunity to bring something more distinctive to this part of Charlotte," Thakor said in a statement.
What's next: Dear Charlotte is expected to open in late fall.
