A new European-inspired beach club event is bringing an Ibiza-style experience to Carolina Beach this summer.
Why it matters: Raleigh-based travel planner Alexia Heath aims to recreate an international beach club atmosphere closer to home, complete with DJs, lounge seating and party-bus transportation.
What they're saying: "One of my favorite things to do whenever I'm on vacation is lounge at a beach club, listen to music and have a drink," Heath told Axios. "Sadly, in North Carolina, there isn't anything that gives you that experience like a club abroad."
Catch up quick: Last month, Heath posted a video manifesting a beach club experience and the response on social media was so strong that she decided to build the event.
- Last week, she announced that she would host Club Avari at Carolina Beach Pier on Saturday, June 6, from 3–10 pm.
What to expect: "Think Ibiza, but it meets the Carolina coast," Heath describes it. The location is on a beachfront spot (1800 Carolina Beach Ave. N), just past the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, and she's hoping to transform the space into something that feels like it's from abroad.
- There will be multiple bars serving cocktails and smoothies, plus a kitchen for food and an ice cream parlor.
- Triangle-based luxury picnic company The Art of Gathering will be providing the lounge seats to recreate the elevated beach club vibe.
- Three DJs, including two locals and one from New York who's had experience playing in places like Mykonos, will be spinning everything from House to Afrobeats.
Zoom out: Beyond Club Avari, Heath also organizes group ski trips and international travel experiences. She also recently launched Avari, a custom travel-planning agency focused on helping clients create personalized vacations.
If you go: Some ticket options have already sold out, but there are waitlists.
- General admission is $30. Party bus tickets, which include round-trip transportation, cost $110 from Raleigh, $160 from Greensboro and $170 from Charlotte.
What's next: If the debut event is successful, Heath hopes to turn Club Avari into a summer series and host another event in mid-July.
