Charlotte schools tap into World Cup youth soccer investment

Catch up quick: Charlotte-based Bank of America has partnered with U.S. Soccer's Soccer Forward Foundation to launch Soccer at Schools.

What to expect: Charlotte was the third and final event before the World Cup kicks off. An online portal of free resources for schools will roll out June 11 to coincide with the start of the tournament, Soccer at Schools program lead Madison Hafitz tells Axios.

• The hub will include everything from training for teachers to physical education lesson plans, plus activity and school videos.
• Title I elementary schools will be able to apply for an equipment kit for their schools, including soccer balls, pop-up goals and cones, once a representative from the school has completed the digital training in the online portal.

The bottom line: There's a lot of excitement and momentum building around the World Cup, Hafitz says, but it's important that interest doesn't fizzle out when the tournament is over.

• "Our goal is to make soccer possible in every school in America by 2030," Hafitz says.
