South End Hideaway opens Thursday, May 14, in the former Slingshot space on West Bland Street.
Why it matters: The new day-to-night concept revives one of South End's most recognizable entertainment venues, just weeks after Slingshot closed and months after neighboring Resident Culture South End shuttered last summer.
Catch up quick: Slingshot was once a bustling South End staple known for games, DJs and packed weekends, though the venue lost momentum in recent years as nightlife competition across the neighborhood grew.
- Olsen Hospitality Partners, the group behind Queen Park Social, has now taken over the massive two-story venue with plans for a more polished mix of cocktails, entertainment, food and nightlife.

What to expect: South End Hideaway is designed as a casual daytime hangout that turns into a nightlife spot, with pool tables, darts, lounge seating and DJs spread across two levels.
- The team replaced Slingshot's former beer wall with a new central bar, adding to the venue's existing bar. Work on the lower level and outdoor patio is still underway.
- During the day, the venue will focus on casual drinks, games and group hangouts. At night, it'll shift to a more dance-driven environment with DJs and live music.
- Resident DJ Justin "JGood" Goodrum will oversee the venue's music programming, which the business says will center around house music.

The vibe: Creative director Jabari Bradford tells Axios the team drew inspiration from nightlife venues in Miami and Los Angeles, pulling moodier lighting, lounge seating and lush interiors into the space.
Sip on this: Cocktails will focus on classics priced between $11 and $14, alongside a local draft beer and wine list.

Best bites: South End Hideaway will serve food in-house and partner with Atlanta-based YUMBII, a food truck known for Korean and Mexican street food.
What's next: The venue is hosting a sneak peek event Saturday, May 9, with limited RSVP spots available ahead of its grand opening. Check its Instagram for the latest details.

If you go: South End Hideaway is at 332 W. Bland St., in the same strip as Ruby Sunshine and Must Be Nice.
- Open Tuesday-Thursday 4pm-midnight, Friday 4pm-2am, Saturday noon-2am, Sunday noon-midnight. Closed Monday.
