Thrift Pony expands to LoSo with massive new thrift shop

A bigger, brighter Thrift Pony is opening Saturday in Lower South End.
Why it matters: The popular Charlotte resale shop is expanding its footprint with a standalone pink building twice the size of its Camp North End store.
Driving the news: The grand opening is Saturday, March 14, at 10am at 3110 S. Tryon St., next to Lenny Boy Brewing.
What to expect: Colorful racks of vintage and secondhand pieces, with everything from denim and cowboy boots to streetwear and vintage tees.
- The second floor will be used as an event space for comedy shows, yoga classes and markets.

Most items in the shop typically sell between $5 and $40, according to owner Hellen Moffitt. The payout structure looks like this:
- 30% for items priced under $10
- 40% for items priced $10–$19.99
- 50% for items priced $20–$49.99
- 60% for items priced $50+
Catch up quick: Moffitt launched the business in 2021 as Ponybox, a clothing rental startup. It has since evolved into a community-driven thrift and consignment brand known for its pink pony bus and pop-up markets around Charlotte.
If you go: The first 50 people in line at the grand opening will get a free blueberry hand pie in honor of Pi Day.
- Local businesses will pop up during the grand opening, including Pertinacious Coffee and live doodle portraits by a local artist.
