The N.C. Department of Transportation has named the Weddington Road interchange on Interstate 485, which opened in January, after Charlotte developer Ned Curran, perhaps best known for his involvement in developing Ballantyne
Why it matters: "Curran's name is well known in local transportation circles," NCDOT said in a press release.
Curran chairs the state's Board of Transportation, is a member of the I-77 Toll Lane Advisory Committee, and is the state legislature's appointee to the new Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority, which is overseeing the disbursement of the county's transit sales tax revenue following the 2025 referendum.
