The Department of Homeland Security has suspended TSA PreCheck and Global Entry due to the ongoing partial government shutdown.
Why it matters: It is unclear ifCharlotte Douglas International Airport and major airports across the country will experience longer security lines due to the suspension.
But for now, TSA PreCheck at CLT "remains operational with no change for the traveling public," a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson tells Axios.
The intrigue: This conflicts with the DHS statement, which says "TSA PreCheck lanes will be closed. All TSA PreCheck members will be directed to general screening lanes to maintain our security standards and consolidate TSA's limited personnel and resources."
What's next: TSA says it will adjust operations on a case-by-case basis as it navigates staffing shortages. Courtesy escorts, including those for members of Congress, have been suspended.
