Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan has been named offensive rookie and rookie of the year by the Pro Football Writers of America.
Why it matters: The former Arizona Wildcat was an immediate impact player the Panthers needed from a first-round pick.
By the numbers: McMillan, who started all 17 games for the Panthers, had 70 receptions for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns.
His seven touchdowns are the most by a rookie in the league this season.
Plus, his 1,014 receiving yards are the most by a rookie in Panthers' history.
What we're watching: McMillan is a finalist for the Pepsi rookie of the year, which fans can vote on until Jan. 30. He's also a contender for Associated Press offensive rookie of the year (one of the highest levels of recognition in the league), which will be announced on Feb. 5 at NFL Honors.
