Panthers fall short in playoff heartbreaker

The Carolina Panthers lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Los Angeles Rams 34-31 Saturday in Charlotte.

• It was their first playoff appearance since the 2017 season, and the city came alive for it. Tailgaters passed out beers to strangers, friends high-fived each other from across barstools, the clouds parted way for fans to pack the stadium — vibes were so high.
