The line for a table at Lang Van snaked out the door and around the building this past Saturday.
But we were happy to wait with other patrons, including some who brought balloons, flowers and other gifts to celebrate the local spot's latest accolades.
Catch up quick: The family-run restaurant recently earned Charlotte's first and only Michelin Bib Gourmand award, which recognizes great food at reasonable prices.
Lang Van is known for its authentic Vietnamese dishes and year-round Christmas lights.
We've touted it as one of Charlotte's best restaurants yearafteryear.
The "Top Chef" judges frequented more than once during their short time here.
My thought bubble: Despite all the accolades mentioned above, Saturday was my first visit, and I quickly understood why it's a neighborhood favorite — it's the kind of place that makes you feel like part of the family.
The bottom line: If you're heading to Lang Van for pho, expect a quick wait and a celebration. Owner Dan Nguyen might just make the rounds, clinking glasses and toasting like she did last weekend.
