The District Exchange in downtown Concord is fully leased, with a majority of tenants being local and regional businesses.
Why it matters: This marks a milestone for downtown Concord's resurgence — blending small businesses, art and hospitality in one of the city's landmark buildings.
Driving the news: Mooresville's Bae's Burgers is opening its second location inside the marketplace, taking over three adjoining first-floor suites to create a custom dining space.
- They'll join anchor tenants Crane Coffee Co. and First-N-Flights Taproom & Lounge, according to a press release shared with Axios.

Context: The District Exchange is part of a larger revitalization of downtown Concord, which has recently undergone a major reconstruction.
- The two-story marketplace sits inside the former Cabarrus Theatre on Union Street and was designed to give small businesses affordable micro-storefronts, similar to Uptown Charlotte's Latta Arcade.
- Developers Kristen and Tristan Adamczuk bought the building in 2019 and have curated 17 small retail bays, along with restaurants, bars and art spaces to make the space feel like "an extension of Union Street."

What's next: A grand opening for the fully completed space is expected in early 2026, after Bae's Burgers finishes its build-out.
- Shoppers can already explore most of the 16+ businesses inside, from candy and craft shops to a barbershop and art studio.
