Brandon Miller shifts gears off the court with his car collection

Catch up quick: The Hornets drafted Miller from Alabama second overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. After a strong rookie season, Miller's second season in the league was cut short due to a right wrist injury. He underwent surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament, according to the team.

Zoom in: Miller treated himself to a Lamborghini Urus after he was drafted, he said on "Podcast P with Paul George" in 2023.

• But Miller already had his dream car, a Dodge Charger, in college, he tells Axios.
• Miller has been into Dodge vehicles since they came out with the Hellcat about a decade ago. He started watching YouTube videos when he got his Dodge. "I didn't really know what I was going to do with it," Miller said. Now his dream car is good to go. He could work on the car more, but it wouldn't improve its performance, he adds.
• Today Miller has four cars.

Between the lines: An interest in cars runs in the family. His dad, he says, is into older cars.

• "I know a little bit about [older cars]," Miller says. "I could still figure out a way to make them look better, sound better [and] perform better."
