PopUp Bagels opens first North Carolina location in Ballantyne

PopUp Bagels is now open at The Bowl at Ballantyne.
Why it matters: The popular bagel restaurant, based in New York and Connecticut, is expanding throughout the Southeast. The Charlotte location marks the first of 10 set to open across the state.
Dig in: The bagel shop is known for its whole (unsliced) bagels, which are made to be "ripped and dipped" in schmears.
- There are five bagel flavors: plain, salt, poppy, sesame and everything; And five schmears — plain, scallions, salted butter, and rotating weekly cream cheeses and butter specials.
- Bagels are served in packs of three, six and 12.
What's next: It's unclear whether another PopUp Bagels will open in the Charlotte area, but a Raleigh location has been confirmed as part of the expansion plans.
