Amina, a new Charlotte restaurant fusing East African and Mediterranean flavors, will open this winter in First Ward.
Why it matters: The team behind Amina aims to bring East African flavors — inspired by one of its owners' Eritrean heritage — to Charlotte diners.
What to expect: The 5,350-square-foot restaurant will transition to a lounge after 10pm on weekends, featuring occasional live music or a live DJ setting the vibe with R&B and house music.
- It'll have a 40-foot-long bar plus indoor booth and table seating for about 170 people.
Dig in: The menu, which is still being developed, will consist of small and shareable plates that blend Eritrean spices with Mediterranean influences.
- They will also serve 10 to 12 seasonal cocktails with creative presentations, plus wine and beer.
What's next: The team plans to open Amina by the end of the year at 225 E. 6th St., near Imperial.
