What to expect: "Central Impact" explores skateboarding's art, culture and community, and spotlights Charlotte's role in shaping the Southeast's skate scene.
The exhibit includes skate decks from the 1980s to today, works by iconic artists Sean Cliver, Marc McKee and Andy Jenkins, and collections from Tim Anderson, Josh Frazier, Andrew Thomas and Patrick Lowery.
"Future Now" examines how technology and different materials are transforming footwear today, from 3D-printed shoes to sneakers made from mushroom leather.
There are roughly 60 futuristic designs from Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, which organized the exhibit.
If you go: Both exhibits run through Jan. 4, 2026.
Editor's note: The title of the Mint Museum exhibit has been corrected to "Central Impact: Skateboarding's Art and Influence."
