Tacos, tea and THC are what you'll find on the corner of The Plaza and Parkwood Avenue now that Villa Taco is open.
Why it matters: The new takeout restaurant is from the team behind the Hemp & Tea Company and opened right next door to their Villa Heights shop.
Context: Hemp & Tea owner Mike Modia partnered with the owner of Taco Truck, a popular Huntersville food truck, to open Villa Taco in the former Chicken King space.
What to expect: Villa Taco serves up the same authentic eats as Taco Truck — but with a twist. Their "happy sauce," a house-made salsa infused with 10mg of THC from Hemp & Tea Co, can be added to anything from quesabirrias and quesadillas to tacos, burritos, bowls and chips.
- You can also order infused drinks from the takeout window, like Hemp & Tea's Feel Good with 20mg of Delta-9 THC, or the Bliss Day with 10mg of CBG.
- THC-infused brownies and truffles (25mg each) and traditional non-infused desserts will be added in the coming weeks.

What they're saying: Modia tells Axios they wanted to offer a sauce instead of fully infused dishes so people can get a taste of the cannabis experience. With the "happy sauce," customers can add THC to any item on the menu.
- "This way, you can experience or get an introduction to cannabis. THC is not bad, it's just how much you use it," said Modia.
The vibe: Villa Taco has six patio seats, but Modia hopes customers also take advantage of the lounge space and cannabis bar next door at Hemp & Tea.
- "We have seating outside, but we want people to come in here for tacos, teas and THC," Modia said.

Zoom in: Hemp & Tea has six locations in addition to their Villa Heights shop, including one in south Charlotte, Huntersville, Belmont, Highland Creek, and their most recent opening in Mooresville.
- The brand is known for its wide inventory of more than 100 teas, including some infused with THC, plus a list of cannabis products such as pre-rolls, edibles, flower, CBD and CBG items.
Stop by: Find Villa Taco at 2301 The Plaza. It's open from 11am-9pm Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday.
