Charlotte law firm Moore & Van Allen will relocate its headquarters and hundreds of employees from Uptown to a new South End skyscraper by 2028.
Why it matters: The signed lease clears the way for Riverside Investment & Development's second tower at Queensbridge Collective, located at 1111 South Tryon.
Zoom in: MVA will move from the Bank of America Corporate Center to nine floors at the top of the 43-story South End building. It will be over 540 feet tall, making it Charlotte's eighth-tallest tower.
Riverside president Tony Scacco says they've reimagined the second tower, originally envisioned as 700,000 square feet of office space, in response to "market trends towards mixed-use environments."
It will now include 346 rental apartments below 356,000 square feet of office space, plus 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities, 1,400 parking stalls and over 20,000 square feet of retail.
What's next: The first tower — 111 East Carson — will be completed by year's end, just as construction starts on its sibling high-rise.
The office will feature an "iconic lobby arrival experience" and "one-of-a-kind top floor event space," including a ballroom, boardroom and lounge areas, per a press release. Rendering courtesy: Goettsch Partners
