The Mint Museum is expanding its photography collection through a multiyear gift from Bank of America.
What's happening: The museum will receive more than 1,000 photographs over the next five years from the bank, doubling its collection and creating the museum's first dedicated photography gallery, per a press release.
Context: The works come from Bank of America's corporate art collection, built over decades through acquisitions from legacy institutions like NCNB and LaSalle Bank.
The first works, which arrive this month, range from 19th-century images to contemporary pieces, with an emphasis on Southern photographers.
What's next: A major exhibition is planned for 2027 to showcase the new collection.
