New sports cafe with live podcasts opening soon near UNC Charlotte

What to expect: In addition to grease-free food, the cafe will serve signature loaded dishes with base options like salads, fries, rice, and eventually, turkey legs.

• Crazy Legs, which has one other location in Michigan, will also have other classic bar staples, including wings and sliders.
• There will be a 20-drink cocktail menu, including some with Red Bull-based and frozen options.

The vibe: The 2,300-square-foot space will feature a front-facing stage for weekly live podcast recordings — visible from the street and designed primarily for sports-related shows.

• It will have a sports bar atmosphere with multiple TVs, plus indoor bar and table seating.

What they're saying: Powell tells Axios he wants to create a dining space that blends food and entertainment — where guests become part of a live audience as they eat.

• "I've noticed in Charlotte people like to be entertained early and go to bed at a decent time. We wanted to create an environment that was fun and different. This restaurant is for those who want to do fun daytime things," said Powell.

What's next: The goal is to open Crazy Legs at 9325 JW Clay Blvd., near the JW Clay Station light rail stop, by early October.
