Charlotte's first MilkShake Factory opening soon in Uptown

MilkShake Factory, a dessert brand specializing in hand-spun milkshakes and chocolates, will open its first Charlotte location in Uptown this summer.

What to expect: Gourmet chocolates and small-batch milkshakes, including signatures like the "Campfire S'mores," trendy flavors, like viral Dubai chocolate and other limited-time options.

Context: MilkShake Factory, which originated in Pittsburgh in 1914, has locations all around the country.

• The Uptown location will be locally owned and operated, says Deepak Murthy, who's opening the dessert shop with two other business partners.

What's next: A soft opening for the Uptown location is planned for July 21, with the grand opening on Aug. 23, says co-owner Deepak Murthy.
