Wicks & Whiskers, a candle-making bar and kitten rescue, opens in Plaza Midwood today.
Why it matters: Owner Kristine Perry has partnered with the nonprofit Killer Kitties Rescue to provide adoptable cats and kittens to facilitate adoptions.
How it works: Start by creating a signature scent, then melt the wax, pour it into your choice of a colorful jar and finish it off by labeling it with a name that you create.
"While your candle cools, play with foster kittens who are available for adoption," Perry said in a statement to Axios.
The experience costs $45, or $15 for just the kitten experience.
Between the lines: The cats are in a separate room with its own filtration system called "the kitten klubhouse" to keep cat hair and dander away from people with allergies, Perry said.
