Moxy Hotel, a party brand from Marriott, will open its first Charlotte hotel this summer.
Why it matters: The hotel aims to offer guests something different from other Uptown hotels, from playful designs to welcome drinks, says director of sales Giovanna Kannady.
- "We are here for the fun hunters, for those who want to have fun and have a good time," Kannady said.
- "We think this is gonna be a great place for people to pregame with quick little small bites (and) cocktails (before they head) out the door to ... to the Spectrum (Center)," Kannady added.
The vibe: The hotel, at 125 S Brevard St. near Spectrum Center, was designed to have a "royalty meets rebellion" design concept featuring local art and murals specific to Charlotte.
- Moxy has 200 guest rooms from the fifth to 12th floor, with some offering skyline views.
- Rooms are designed to be a bit smaller since they expect guests to be out and about. Bed options include king, queen and twin bunk beds.
- Each room comes with desk and work areas, plus plenty of removable wall art that guests can take home.

What to expect: The check-in desk and bar share the same space, so once you receive your key card, you'll get a complimentary house cocktail or wine.
- Guests will have access to a list of amenities including a 24-hour fitness center, semi-private event spaces, bar and lounge areas plus a grab-and-go section.
- There are also stash closets on every floor with essentials like towels, pillows and makeup wipes so guests don't have to wait for the concierge to provide items.

If you book: Room rates will typically start at $159 and overnight valet parking will be available for $45 per day.
- Pet-friendly rooms are available for an additional fee.
What's next: The hope is to have room reservations for Moxy available starting in mid-July.
