Miro Spanish Grille celebrates 10 years in Ballantyne, 25 in Charlotte

Ballantyne may be booming with new restaurants, but one longtime favorite is proving that tradition still has a place — and a loyal fan base.
Why it matters: "Many restaurants have come and gone. But after 25 years, we're still here," Miro Spanish Grille co-owner Felipe Alvarez tells Axios.
Dig in: Miro is a Spanish tapas, steakhouse and seafood restaurant. It's best known for its paella, Chilean sea bass, filet mignon, shareable plates and desserts, which they proudly present to you on a platter to choose from at the end of your meal.
- Its wine list is comprised of wines from six Spanish regions, and its rotating cocktail menu also highlights Spanish flavors.
The vibe: With live music every Thursday night and traditional Spanish dishes, Miro is a family-friendly spot that draws repeat customers time and time again.
💭 My thought bubble: What Miro lacks in contemporary interior design that some of Charlotte's newest restaurants have, it makes up for in consistency and quality of service.
Flashback: Miro first opened in 1999 in Stonecrest. About 10 years ago, the restaurant moved to the Toringdon Market Shopping Center in Ballantyne. Last November, the restaurant celebrated its 25th anniversary.
- Ballantyne residents Felipe Alvarez, Erwin Del Pozo, and Aldo Caballero bought the restaurant from the Luong family about three years ago.
Between the lines: Alvarez, Del Pozo and Caballero are all Peruvian. "My grandfather was born in Seville, Spain," Alvarez said.
