The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art has added three new artworks to its permanent collection.
Why it matters: ArtistClare Rojas' 2019 painting "Untitled" is the first artwork the museum has ever purchased.
Zoom in: Julie Curtiss' 2022 painting "Wicked" was donated by donated by the Ligon Contemporary Art Foundation. It's currently on view at the Bechtler through March 30 as part of the exhibit "Chance Encounters: Surrealism Then and Now."
Dario Robleto's 1999 mixed media sculpture "I'm Not So Sure The World Deserves You" was donated by Kerry F. Inman and Denby Auble.

What they're saying: "By adding works by these important contemporary artists, we are not only expanding our collection but also deepening our engagement with evolving narratives of modern and contemporary art," Todd Smith, Bechtler Museum executive director, said in a statement.
