Fresh pasta shop and Italian market opens on The Plaza

A new pasta shop and Italian market is now open inside a refurbished craftsman house on The Plaza.
Why it matters: Sorellina Pasta Co. will serve fresh-made pasta, sauces and focaccia, made daily by owner Kristiana Perini.
- "The Italian way is to use as many local ingredients as possible," she tells Axios.
Driving the news: Sorellina opens Friday, April 18 at 11am at 2341 The Plaza.
- It's open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11am-6pm. Closed Saturday-Tuesday.
What to expect: To start, Sorellina will be retail only. People will be able to grab their fresh extruded and filled pasta to go, along with lasagna and other entrees like meatballs.
- It'll also have a wine selection with both natural and conventional Italian wines.
- "One thing I think is really important is supporting the local food system and using ingredients that aren't super processed," Perini says.
Zoom in: The home has sat vacant for at least the last five years, Perini says, and has gone through an extensive remodeling process to become Sorellina.
- The space is about 1,300 square feet, which is mostly taken up by the kitchen.
- Outside, it has a patio where Perini hopes to eventually serve lunch a few days a week.
