Final farewells: The restaurants we lost in 2024

Business closures are just as much a part of our city's growth story as the new ones we report about weekly. Here's a list of notable restaurants we lost this year:

• Haymaker in Uptown will serve its final dinner on New Year's Eve after six years in Uptown.
• Letty's on Shamrock will close on New Year's Eve because its owner is retiring.
• Mere's in Park Road will close at the end of the month.
• The King's Kitchen closed in Uptown this week.
• Village Tavern closed its doors in October after 35 years in SouthPark.
• Riccio's Italian, a family-run Italian restaurant since 1962, closed in October.
• Zada Jane's Corner Cafe closed in September after 17 years in Plaza Midwood.
• One of Charlotte's oldest restaurants, Harper's, closed in July.
• littleSpoon in Myers Park closed in July.
• Dandelion Market closed in July after 15 years in Uptown.
• Leah & Louise closed in Camp North End in April.
• Eight+Sand closed in January after five years in South End.
• Popbar closed both its Camp North End and NoDa locations.
• Pepperbox Doughnuts closed both its NoDa and South End locations.
• Wentworth & Fenn closed its Uptown and Camp North End locations.
