"Art with Air" explores the history of college basketball ahead of the upcoming Jumpman Invitational in Uptown.
Why it matters: Local and western North Carolina artists were commissioned by Charlotte Sports Foundation and Truist to explore this year's theme: the evolution of basketball.
What to expect: The second annual "Art with Air" will be on view at the McColl Center Dec. 16-18.
- The show includes Charlotte artist Alexander Newman Hall's "Legacy Orb," a multi-media experience exploring the history of men's and women's college basketball at North Carolina, Florida, Michigan and Oklahoma.
The rest of the lineup includes:
Asheville artists:
- Mitch Capps
- Julianna Chioma
- Nava Lubelski
- Xcvi (Josh Horine)

Stop by: McColl Center is at 721 N Tryon St. Exhibit hours are 12-6pm. The show is free to attend.

What's next: As part of the Jumpman Invitational, Florida men's basketball takes on North Carolina on Dec. 17 at 7pm at Spectrum Center. Michigan women's basketball plays Oklahoma at 9:30pm. Tickets for night one start at $59.20.
- Night two features Florida women's basketball vs. North Carolina at 6:30pm and Michigan men's basketball vs. Oklahoma at 9pm. Tickets for night two start at $66.40.
- Gates open at 5:30 both nights. Your ticket gets you into both games on day one or day two, but you will need tickets for both days.
Be smart: Parking in Uptown during major events can be pricey and there's a lot of traffic. The CityLYNX Gold Line Streetcar and the Lynx Blue Line both have stops right outside Spectrum Center (CTC/Arena Station).
- The Gold Line is currently free to ride. Weekly unlimited Blue Line rides cost $30.80 ($2.20 for adult oneway fare and $1.10 for kids).
