Kristi Coleman has been named chief executive officer of Tepper Sports & Entertainment, the organization announced Tuesday. Coleman will continue to serve as Carolina Panthers president.
Why it matters: While things have been relatively calm on Mint Street recently, this is the latest shakeup to the front office for TSE, the Panthers and Charlotte FC.
- Coleman, one of the few female executives in the NFL, has been with the Panthers for more than a decade.
The latest: TSE hired Eric Sudol as chief revenue officer, the organization announced Wednesday, Dec. 11. He'll report to Coleman and oversee revenue-producing departments for the organization including the Panthers, Charlotte FC and Bank of America Stadium.
- Sudol's last stop was with the Dallas Cowboys as senior vice president of corporate partnership sales and services.
- His first day with TSE is Jan. 6.
State of play: TSE is in the midst of a broader restructuring, which is effective immediately, per a TSE press release. Other changes include:
- Coleman's promotion puts her at the helm of business operations for not only an NFL team, but also TSE's Major League Soccer team, Charlotte FC. She'll report directly to TSE owner and executive chairman, David Tepper.
- Charlotte FC president Joe LaBue is moving into a consultant role (LaBue has been club president since Charlotte FC's inaugural season). TSE's MLS club will no longer have a team president, but rather a chief business officer who will oversee all soccer business operations. The new CBO will report to Coleman. Natalee Jarrett, Charlotte FC's current VP of business operations, will serve as interim CBO during the search.
- David Nelson will serve as VP of premium sales & services, overseeing premium hospitality at Bank of America Stadium. Nelson will report to the new CRO.
- Bonnie Almond will serve as VP of venue operations, overseeing events and operations at TSE venues, including safety. Almond will report to chief venues officer Caroline Wright.
What they're saying: Tepper said Coleman is a "proven leader" with "insight and expertise to guide us through this pivotal moment in our evolution," per a statement.
What we're watching: Coleman steps into her new role as CEO as TSE prepares for a massive renovation of Bank of America Stadium.
