It's beginning to look a lot like Thanksgiving, which means finding new recipes and pulling out old favorites as we gather with friends and family over the holidays.
Why it matters: While inflation has driven up the cost of a typical Thanksgiving dinner, it will be a little cheaper this year compared with recent years, Axios' Alex Fitzpatrick reports.
State of play: As Thanksgiving approaches, you probably have to make a run to the grocery store for essentials. Our team hit eight stores around the area between Nov. 17-21. We found that Aldi had the cheapest prices.
- We tried our best to keep our shopping list the same at each location, opting for the store (generic) brand. There are some exceptions, like at Trader Joe's, which doesn't sell canned green beans.
Editor's note: We did not dive into desserts. This is purely based on a whole turkey, stuffing made from scratch, green beans (we understand sides are subject to change) and mashed potatoes.
