The Giving Machines are back

The Giving Machines will return to the Promenade on Providence from Nov. 23 to Dec. 8.

Why it matters: Instead of buying snacks, you select donation options from local and global charities to give to.

• They include essential items like tennis shoes for a child and groceries for a family, for example.

How it works: The Giving Machines support three local charities — FeedNC, Latin American Coalition and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte.

• Prices for items in the Giving Machines range from $5 to $175. Last year, the Charlotte Giving Machines raised $163,578.
