You can pretend you're on a TV game show with your friends and family at the recently opened Game Show Battle Rooms in Ballantyne.
Why it matters: The new spot brings an immersive, game-show experience to Charlotte, where players get to compete in challenges inspired by popular game shows, like "Wheel of Fortune" and "Family Feud."
What to expect: You'll be split into two teams, with a host and producer running the show. A countdown timer runs while you face off in three rounds.
- Sessions last around an hour and are slightly longer for larger groups.
- The winning team gets a photo opp with the golden trophy — and all the bragging rights.

How it works: There are two game-show rooms to choose from — "Classic" and "Primetime." Each has three different games.
In the Classic arena, you'll play:
- "Survey Battles" is similar to "Family Feud."
- "Spin and Solve" is like "Wheel of Fortune".
- "What's That Cost" is a price-matching game paired with "The Drop," both inspired by games on "The Price is Right."
The Primetime arena is a bit more competitive and physically challenging, with the addition of skill-based games similar to those on "Minute to Win It."
Context: Our group of seven recently faced off in the Classic arena, where my team, "The Good Team," faced off against "The Blue Baddies" for the win.

The vibe: The experience is built for groups — you'll need at least six people to play, and the space can hold up to 32 players.
- While there's no food for sale, there's catering available from nearby restaurants like Blackfinn Ameripub, and there's a small selection of alcoholic drinks available onsite.

Zoom out: Game Show Battle Rooms has fifteen locations nationwide, including in Atlanta, Dallas, and Minneapolis.
- For remote gatherings, there's a virtual version, as well as a mobile "Roadshow" that brings the game setup to you.
If you go: It costs $34.95 per person and will increase to $37.95 during November and December.
- You can reserve a time slot here.
