Voters can cast their ballot for the 2024 General Election early between now and Nov. 2. Here's our guide to everything you need to vote early.
Why it matters: Early voting offers more flexibility with 33 open polling locations over 17 days, plus the ability to register to vote same-day.
- Unlike Election Day, on Nov. 5, you can vote at any polling location during the early voting period.
When to vote early: The polls are open for early voting every day between Oct. 17 and Nov. 2.
- Weekdays: 8am-7:30pm
- Saturdays: 8am-3pm
- Sundays: 1-5pm
Where to vote early: Polling places are scattered across Mecklenburg County in libraries, retail stores, recreation centers and even Bank of America Stadium.

Live outside of Mecklenburg County? Find polling locations for all North Carolina counties here. And South Carolina early voting information here.
How it works: Just show up at any of the 33 early voting locations with an ID. A team of polling place staffers will guide you through the voting process. It's super easy and usually takes about 15 minutes.
- If you still need to register to vote, you're in luck. You can do that at any early voting location, but don't wait — you can't register to vote on Election Day (Nov. 5), only on or before Nov. 2.
- To register and vote same-day you must provide proof of residence like a North Carolina driver's license, a current utility bill, a paycheck, or any other document that shows your name and address. More details here.
What's on the ballot? A lot. You'll be voting in dozens of races and other referenda, including the president.
