Ten Tenths Motor Club, a country club for car lovers, will open near Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2025.
Why it matters: A love for racing is in Charlotte's DNA. Now there's a place for the average driver to indulge their passion the same way golf lovers can at their favorite country club.
State of play: Ten Tenths Motor Club is a collaboration between Charlotte Motor Speedway and Hendrick Motorsports.
- It will be operated by Speedway Motorsports, which was founded by the late NASCAR titan Bruton Smith.
- You'll find it outside Charlotte Motor Speedway's turns 1 and 2.
What to expect: The 100-acre complex will include the Ten Tenths Circuit (a lit multi-purpose road course), a clubhouse, a climate-controlled members' garage, a concierge, mechanical assistance from Hendrick Automotive Group, a lounge and off-road trails to drive on.
- The clubhouse will be modeled after Turn 11 at Sonoma Raceway. It will include 20,000 square feet of event space that can hold 1,500 people between indoor rooms that open up to outdoor patio space. It will also have conference rooms and a catering kitchen.
- Ten Tenths Motor Club will also have a cigar lounge, bourbon bar and putting course.
Zoom in: Ten Tenths Circuit was designed by Formula 1 veteran Alexander Wurz. The course 1.7-mile course has three configurations:
- A seven-turn 0.567-mile inner loop.
- A 13-turn 1.1-mile short course.
- A 19-turn, 1.7-mile full circuit.
- It can be split into two courses and driven and both directions.
What's next: Circuit construction is nearly complete. The clubhouse grand opening is scheduled for April 3-5, 2025 — coinciding with the Heritage Invitational, a showcase of rare cars.
- Details on how to join Ten Tenths, including costs, are TBD.
What they're saying: "It's a combination of amenities that cannot be matched in North America," Rick Hendrick, chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group and owner of NASCAR's Hendrick Motorsports, said in a statement.
- The goal is for Ten Tenths to be enjoyed by everyone "from professional race car drivers to high-performance driving enthusiasts and car collectors," Speedway Motorsports president and CEO Marcus Smith said in a statement.
- Smith describes the project as the most expansive property development at the speedway since building zMAX Dragway in 2008.
