Dave's Hot Chicken continues its local expansion

Local Dave's Hot Chicken franchisee Nick Smith and his wife, Nicole, who opened Charlotte's first Dave's in Plaza Midwood, are expanding their portfolio of the popular chicken restaurants with locations in Rock Hill and Greensboro this year.

Why it matters: Since its Charlotte debut two years ago, Dave's has become a favorite among Charlotteans, who routinely form lines for the fast-casual chain's Nashville-style hot chicken sandwiches.

Details: The Rock Hill restaurant is expected to open the first week in October at 2476 Cherry Road. It'll be the local franchisees' first drive-thru, Nick tells Axios.

• The Greensboro location will open in early December at 1949 Battleground Ave.
• Both locations will have similar menus and pricing to the Charlotte locations, Nick says.
