Charlotte native Kaylyn Brown wins silver with Team USA

Catch up quick: The 19-year-old Mallard Creek alumna and Arkansas athlete helped Team USA set a new world record for the event (3:07.41) Friday in the qualifying race. Brown ran the final leg of the relay both Friday and Saturday.

• Team USA broke their own record — 3:08.8 set at the 2023 World Championships.
• Fellow relay runners were Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon.

Context: The mixed relay, which consists of a team of two men and two women, is fairly new to the Olympics. It made its debut at the Tokyo Games in 2020.
